The 81db band was formed in 2006 in Florence. Over the years, the band has released four albums: "Evaluation" (2009), their debut album featuring the single "Voices," which was broadcast on MTV Greece and MAD TV; "Impressions" (2011), recorded in California and co-produced by Sylvia Massy, producer of bands like TOOL and System of a Down; "A Blind Man’s Dream" (2013), perhaps the band's most complex work, a concept album where heavy riffs, progressive rhythms, and folk influences come to life and blend together, with lyrics inspired by Stanley Kubrick's cinematic masterpiece "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." The fourth album, released at the end of 2016 to mark the band's tenth anniversary, is a "Best Of" that also includes a powerful new track. Since their inception, the band has performed in Italy and abroad (United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria) and, in July 2008, opened for Deep Purple at the “Colonia Sonora” in Turin. From 2017, a period of inactivity due to the departure of Filippo (drums) and William (vocals) did not prevent the band from releasing an EP of instrumental tracks, The Movie Sessions, in 2021. In 2022, the lineup was completed with Filippo's return on drums and the addition of new singer Luca.
With Luca in the lineup, the band released a new single, "A Little Game Called War," originally an instrumental track from “The Movie Sessions” EP recording sessions. Currently, the band is working on a brand-new full-length album, their first since 2013's A Blind Man’s Dream. The plan is to record and release songs gradually until the full album is complete. The first single from the upcoming album, "The Imposter," was released in April 2024 and the plan is to release more songs during 2024 and publish the full album in early 2025.
